Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has joined the Turkish club Trabzonspor, bringing a long chapter with Liverpool to a close. Displaying stellar form in his new club's jersey, the 34-year-old forward has achieved the unique feat of contributing to 10 goals in his first seven Turkish Super Lig matches.
In addition to scoring seven goals in seven matches for Trabzonspor, Salah has provided three assists for his teammates. He has set a record as the first player in Turkish Super Lig history to be directly involved in 10 goals within his first seven games.
Salah recently provided an assist during Trabzonspor's 3–0 victory over Samsunspor, completing his tally of seven goals and three assists in his opening seven league matches.
Hat-trick against Galatasaray
Although he initially took the field as a substitute after arriving in Turkey, Salah quickly became a key member of the squad. Within just a month of joining the new club, he delivered a magnificent performance against Galatasaray—who had finished third in the league the previous season.
Trabzonspor secured a resounding 4–0 victory in that match; Salah scored a hat-trick and also set up a goal for a teammate. Building on that success against Galatasaray, he went on to set the record of contributing to 10 goals in his first seven games.
Move to Turkey on a free transfer
Salah left Anfield as a free agent last August after his contract with Liverpool expired. He subsequently signed a two-year deal with Trabzonspor on a free transfer.
The Egyptian star received a warm welcome from fans upon arriving in Istanbul to join his new club. His consistent success on the pitch has further heightened the fans' expectations. After concluding his Liverpool chapter, Salah has not only adapted quickly to the new league but is also consistently contributing with goals and assists. Such a start in the Turkish Süper Lig has proven to be a major gain for Trabzonspor.
