Apple has introduced a new MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen, a tandem OLED display, and the M5 Pro chip.
Apple has announced a major shift in laptop display technology and user experience. The company has unveiled the new MacBook Pro, featuring a PROLED XDR display, touchscreen functionality, and the powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch models, the new laptop incorporates the "Dynamic Island," advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, and extended battery life. Apple claims that the new design makes the laptop thinner and lighter than its predecessors.
New Display with Tandem OLED Technology
A key highlight of the new MacBook Pro is its PROLED XDR display. It utilizes tandem OLED technology, engineered to deliver superior brightness, contrast, and color accuracy. The display boasts a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 120Hz variable refresh rate.
It supports both P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces, making it exceptionally effective for tasks where color precision is critical—such as video editing, photography, graphic design, and print production. To minimize reflections, the display features an anti-reflective coating, with an optional nano-texture glass finish available.
Touchscreen Comes to the Mac for the First Time
For the first time, Apple has introduced a touchscreen to the MacBook Pro. Users can interact directly with the screen to scroll through web pages, zoom in on images, navigate slides, and manipulate content within various applications.
This feature opens up new creative possibilities, particularly for designers, filmmakers, photographers, 3D artists, and musicians. Users can draw, paint, and edit designs directly on the screen using applications such as Apple’s Creator Studio and Pixelmator Pro. Logic Pro will also feature an on-screen multi-touch keyboard and various music control tools.
Performance with M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips
The new laptops are powered by Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. According to the company, they support configurations with up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage. This hardware is designed for demanding tasks such as complex video editing, software development, research, and AI-driven workloads.
Apple claims the laptop offers up to 24 hours of battery life. However, actual battery performance will vary based on the nature of the tasks, screen brightness, and other usage factors.
Dynamic Island and Connectivity
The Dynamic Island, familiar from the iPhone, has now arrived on the Mac. It provides quick access to information and controls for features like Spotlight search, Live Activities, and Siri AI-related functions.
For connectivity, the new MacBook Pro includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, a MagSafe charging port, and a headphone jack. The M5 Pro model supports up to three external displays, while the M5 Max model supports up to four. Additionally, it features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Touch ID for secure logins.

Pricing and Availability
According to Apple, pre-orders for the new MacBook Pro began on October 28. Pre-order options are available in 30 countries and regions, including the United States. Deliveries to customers and retail availability at Apple Stores and authorized resellers are scheduled to begin on November 6. The prices announced for the United States are as follows:
- 14-inch, M5 Pro: $2,899
- 16-inch, M5 Pro: $3,399
- 4-inch, M5 Max: $4,499
- 16-inch, M5 Max: $4,799
Eligible buyers from educational institutions will receive special discounts. The pricing and specific release date for the Bangladeshi market have yet to be confirmed.
With the inclusion of a touchscreen, an advanced OLED display, a new chip, and the Dynamic Island, Apple has introduced several major changes to the new MacBook Pro. The extent to which these updates will prove beneficial for professional users will depend on real-world performance, battery life, and software compatibility.
