The football world gathered at the London Palladium Theatre on Monday night for the 70th edition of the Ballon d'Or. England and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane claimed the men's Ballon d'Or for the first time, becoming the first Englishman to win the prestigious award since Michael Owen in 2001.

Kane enjoyed a remarkable 2025–26 campaign, scoring 73 goals for club and country. His performances helped Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, while he also produced an outstanding campaign with England. His goalscoring form ultimately saw him finish ahead of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé in the Ballon d'Or race.

The Women's Ballon d'Or went to Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas. The Barcelona legend, who now plays for London City Lionesses, claimed the award for the third time after previously winning it in 2021 and 2022.

Spain and Barcelona enjoyed a particularly successful night, winning several major awards across the men's and women's categories.
